Weihai Huatan Supply Chain Management Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “Huatan company”) is a mixed ownership enterprise jointly held by private capital and state-owned capital, with a registered capital of RMB300 million yuan. The company’s businesses mainly include supply chain management, international trade, logistics and warehousing, “the Belt and Road” projects construction, investment consultation, China-Africa friendly cooperation, and building a comprehensive offshore service platform to promote economic and trade exchanges.

Huatan company has been responding to the call of the party and the state, always following the strategy of “the Belt and Road” and “Go global”, and has spread all over Africa. Huatan company has many subsidiaries or branches overseas, directly sending more than 50 employees overseas and has employed more than 1000 local workers. Huatan company not only actively trading with Africa, but also expands the trade area to every corner of the world. In 2019, Huatan company achieved nearly 300 million yuan of import and export trade with Africa. In 2020 and 2021, the total volume of import and export trade was 630 million yuan and 800 million yuan respectively. This figure reached over 1 billion yuan in 2022.

Since 2019, Huatan company started striving to develop the Comprehensive Service Cooperation Zone of East Africa Commercial and Logistics Industrial Park. This “one zone with multiple parks” is composed of East Africa commercial and logistics center, Huatan overseas warehouse, Exhibition center, Zanzibar Airport bonded warehouse logistics park, and a cross-border e-commerce platform. It can realize various functions such as offline trading, exhibition and display, warehousing and logistics, cross-border e-commerce, supply chain finance, packaging and processing, entrepot trade, and one-stop processing of cross-border business. It is a distribution center and bridgehead of commerce, trade and logistics based in Tanzania, driving east African countries and radiating the whole Africa.

In 2020, Huatan company continued to step up its efforts to participate in the development of China-Tanzania economic and trade cooperation. At the 3rd Shanghai China International Import Expo(CIIE), Huatan company was entrusted by Tanzania Trade Development Authority (TANTRADE) and Tanzanian Embassy in China to participate in the exhibition, displaying Tanzanian products and promoting projects in Tanzania. During the exhibition, intentional orders of more than 10 million US dollars were signed. In November, Huatan company was invited to participate in Shandong Cross-border E-commerce Ecological Conference, and cooperated with many large-scale provincial market trade procurement pilots to help provincial enterprises explore the African market through the Tanzania economic and trade service platform. In 2020, Huatan company was awarded the prize of "Outstanding Contribution to Openness" by Weihai Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government.

In 2021, Huatan company made a new breakthrough. SABASABA trade fair held in July every year is the largest and most famous comprehensive exhibition in Tanzania, which has dominant influence in Africa. With the support of the Shandong Provincial Department of Commerce, Huatan company organized more than 30 enterprises from Shandong to participate in the trade fair, which produced sensational effects. Many local mainstream media made extensive reports on this. During the exhibition period, Huatan company's subsidiary in Tanzania signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the Tanzania Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture (TCCIA) to jointly promote Tanzanian products entering the Chinese market. Besides, Huatan company was entrusted by relevant Tanzanian authorities to represent Tanzanian enterprises to participate in the 2nd China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo and the 4th Shanghai China International Import Expo (CIIE), under the principle of mutual benefit and win-win, to attract partners from all walks of life.

In September 2021, Huatan Overseas Warehouse was selected as one of the “Important Public Overseas Warehouses Cultivated by Shandong Province”. This great honor not only enhanced our ability to integrate into the host markets, but also strengthened our voice in the international market. In November 2021, the Comprehensive Service Cooperation Zone of East Africa Commercial and Logistics Industrial Park was recognized as the provincial-level overseas economic and trade cooperation zone by the Department of Commerce and the Department of Finance of Shandong Province. It is the first approved provincial-level overseas economic and trade cooperation zone of Weihai city, achieving a “zero breakthrough”.

In 2022, Huatan company once again made fruitful achievements. Since the success of last year's SABASABA exhibition, the Shandong Provincial Department of Commerce upgraded the overseas exhibition to be A-class standard exhibition. Huatan company organized 52 enterprises from Shandong province to participate in the exhibition with a brand-new look. Exhibition activities such as dragon and lion dance were arranged to publicize China culture, which became the highlight of the exhibition. After the exhibition, the honor of "Best Foreign Exhibitor" was rewarded. China Shandong (Tanzanian) Agricultural Products Industrial Park, which started operation in 2021, harvested the first batch of soybeans in the summer of 2022 and exported back to China. In addition, Huatan Overseas Exhibition Center was awarded as Shandong Overseas Brand Exhibition Center in November.

In terms of promoting cultural exchanges between China and Tanzania, Huatan company continued to participate in the 5th China International Import Expo (CIIE) on behalf of Tanzania Trade Development Authority and the Tanzanian Embassy in China, and signed intentional orders of 20 million US dollars during the exhibition. In June, Wendeng District Government signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the Chamber of Commerce of East African Commercial and Logistics Center in Tanzania to promote the economic and trade development between Wendeng District and Tanzania. In December, as a contact party, Huatan company actively coordinated and participated in the "2022 China (Shandong)-Tanzania Economic and Trade Collaboration Cloud Dialogue" co-hosted by Shandong Provincial Department of Commerce, Tanzania Ministry of Investment, Industry and Trade and Tanzania Embassy in China, which facilitated Weihai Weigao Medical International Trading Co., Ltd., Zhongtong Bus Co., Ltd., Shandong Genyuan New Materials Co., Ltd. and Shandong Golden Beach Bus Operation Management Co., Ltd to sign project cooperation memorandums with Tanzanian enterprises respectively, further strengthening the economic, trade and cultural exchanges between Shandong and Tanzania.

In 2023, Huatan company will make persistent efforts, focusing on expanding foreign investment and supporting domestic enterprises to go global. It is planned to invest 20 million US dollars to continue to promote the construction of the comprehensive service cooperation zone of East Africa Commercial and Logistics Industrial Park, improve facilities and services, and strive to declare as a "National Overseas Economic and Trade Cooperation Park". At the 47th SABASABA Fair in July, more than 100 enterprises from Shandong Province and dozens of companies from Hunan, Zhejiang and other sister provinces will be motivated to participate in the exhibition, striving to have new results in displaying the image of Chinese enterprises, exploring the international market at a deep level and spreading Chinese culture.
